Silent Power is focused on making renewable energy more valuable. The inherent intermittent nature of wind and solar energy means that this energy is often not available when you need it the most. By combining energy storage with our patented inverter technology, Silent Power makes renewable energy available when it is needed the most.
Silent Power was founded in 2002 with an initial focus on innovative and reliable power conversion and energy storage equipment for the off grid market. The company created patented technology to allow a high frequency, micro-transformer to handle large surge currents that are typical when starting electric motor loads. This technology allowed the company to create performance, packaging, and cost advantages over existing power conversion technologies. This proprietary technology is at the heart of every Silent Power product that addresses numerous markets.
Silent Power’s initial products addressed home and business owners who were off grid and using renewable energy resources such as solar, wind, hydro, etc. to power their home or business. These applications require high efficiency and reliability along with the ability to store energy for use when renewable energy is not available.
Silent Power’s products also address the need for standby or backup power in the event that there is a utility grid failure. Silent Power’s products are battery based and are a great alternative to fossil fuel generators. Quiet, fast switching times, simple installation, green, and eligibility for the federal investment tax credits make our products right for today’s world.
A major focus of Silent Power is aligning renewable energy production with peak electrical grid demand. On a national average most wind is produced at night. Solar energy typically peaks around noon. Peak electrical demand typically occurs between 4 and 7pm for most utilities. As renewable energy production grows, this “misalignment” will become a growing issue. Electric consumers end up paying increased electric rates as utilities are forced to build electric production facilities and distribution plant to deal with increased peak demand. Silent Power is working with consumers, businesses and utilities to reduce this peak electrical demand by applying stored renewable energy at correct time.
